Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge their open show. After 19 months away from the show ring due to health, it was lovely to be back in a judging capacity and to see so many hounds that were new to me. Thank you to the exhibitors who entered and accepted their placings with good grace. Lastly thank you to my efficient steward Melissa who kept the ring running smoothly.
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0abs) 1st Havard’s Annavah Justify Pleasing head and expression on this raw 6mth baby, he is compact and well made with good proportions and forehand. Moved well in profile, needs time to mature and develop to complete the picture.
Puppy Dog (4,1abs) 1st Banks’ Forgebanks Santiano RBD & BPD A lovely TW boy presenting a balanced & clean outline, shown in tip top condition. He has a masculine head with soft expression, good length of neck and well laid shoulders, super front assembly, well made throughout the body with good depth and spring of rib, level topline with well made hindquarters. Moves well in all directions with super reach and drive. Just wanted a bit more verve from him in the challenge.
2nd Lewis’ Fallowfield Romeo Beautiful head with a super soft expression and kind dark eye on this compact tri boy. Reachy neck into well laid shoulders, super forehand and well made throughout with good depth & ribbing, well made hindquarters. Moved with super reach and drive.
Junior Dog (6,3abs) 1st Banks’ Forgebanks Santiano 1st in puppy dog
2nd Hardisty’s Blunderhall Jacks The Lad JW Compact Tri with pleasing head proportions and soft expression with low set leathers. Sufficient neck, straight front, tight elbows and neat feet. He moved well, I would just prefer a touch more angulation front & back.
Yearling Dog (2,0Abs) 1st Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman BD & RBIS Another beautifully headed male from this kennel with a soft expression framed by low set leathers. He has a super front assembly, lovely length of neck into well laid shoulders. Well made throughout the body, good depth and well ribbed. He has excellent constructed hindquarters with well bent stifles. Covering the ground easily with plenty reach and drive.
2nd Philips’ Lanesend Redcap Bushranger Pleasing dog with good proportions, masculine head with low leathers. Good neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of chest, tight elbows, well ribbed with good quarters. Moved freely in profile
Post Graduate Dog (1,0abs) 1st Bell-Thomas’ Amorpapaver Hercules Pleasing head and expression on this tri male, sufficient length of neck, level top line, good depth of chest with tight elbows. Moved happily round the ring, just didn’t have the same reach and drive as his contender for Best Special Beginner.
Limit Dog (4,0abs) 1st Bridgeman & Logue’s Kubik Csiki Kopo at Kingswin (imp serb) Smart looking TW dog with a clean outline in profile, he has good head proportions but is stronger than I prefer. Arched neck into a good lay of shoulder, well made throughout the body with ample fore chest, balanced fore and hind quarters, moved well with reach and drive, he really puts on a good performance. I would prefer a neater front.
2nd Hunt’s Bondlea Woodlark Pleasing head and expression with low framing leathers. Good reach of neck and lay of shoulder, good depth of chest, well ribbed back and strong loin, well made hindquarters, moved well with reach and drive. Open Dog (0)

Vintage Dog (1,0abs) 1st Keyte & Phillips’ Lanesend Segenhoe JW Sh.CM BVD Really enjoyed watching this 10.5 yr old gentleman enjoying his day out. Pleasing head with good proportions, dark eye of correct shape and a kind expression framed with low set leathers. Good length of neck into good shoulders, he has a well made forehand extending to a well made body and good hindquarters. Moved out well in all directions.

Minor Puppy Bitch (3,0abs) 1st Lewis’ Velenco True Love For Fallowfield BPB & BPIS This brightly marked tri bitch with a beautifully proportioned feminine head a melting expression, dark eyes and well placed leathers. Arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders level topline and correct tailset, forelegs straight and well under with tight elbows,good depth of chest with correct ribs extending well back and short coupled followed by her excellent hind quarters. Moved well with super reach and drive. I look forward to watching her mature.
2nd Havard’s Annavah Teardrop Lovely head and sweet expression on this youngster, arched neck into good shoulders, level topline, straight fore,plentiful fore chest and good bone, I would have liked more return of upper arm and more bend of stifle. She moved well with reach and drive.
Puppy Bitch (3,0abs) 1st Banks’ Forgebanks Shantung An honest pretty bitch with a pleasing head and kind eye, good length of neck into a good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Well made throughout with tight elbows, well made fore and hindquarters, moved well with reach and drive.
2nd Hardisty’s Blunderhall Saucy Sally Compact tri with pleasing head and expression with low set leathers, good length of neck into a good shoulder, level topline, well sprung ribs, good bone and a shapely hindquarter, moved well in profile, would prefer slightly more length of upper arm.
Junior Bitch (6,3abs) 1st Lewis’ Fallowfield Raya Beautiful head and melting expression on this TW bitch, arched neck into well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm, well made throughout with good depth of chest and well ribbed and a well made hindquarter. She flew round the ring with super reach and drive.
2nd Banks’ Forgebanks Shantung 1st in Puppy Bitch
Yearling Bitch (4,2abs) 1st Lennard’s Butterow Unity Lovely head and expression on this honest and well built girl, good neck and shoulders,good depth of chest and well sprung ribs, moving soundly and efficiently showing true Beagle merriment.
2nd Baker’s Koorbrats Meadow Pretty headed TW bitch, reachy neck into a well placed shoulder, good spring of rib, nicely made hindquarter, moved well in profile.
Post Graduate Bitch (8,1abs) 1st Lennard’s Butterow Unity 1st Yearling bitch
2nd Scarlett’s Rossut Vestry with Michelroy JW Pleasing head and expression on this tri bitch, she’s not a glamour model but nice and honest, super length of neck into well laid shoulders & good return of upper arm, well sprung ribs, level topline & stern set on, well made hindquarters which she used to cover the ground effortlessly in profile.
Limit Bitch (7,2abs) 1st Davies’ Annavah Nocturne at Barrvale RBB Pleasing head on this pretty girl , she has a super clean outline, reachy neck into well laid shoulders and good forequarters, good rear angulation, moved soundly in all directions, would have liked to see her open up her stride in profile which I’m sure she’s more than capable of. 2nd Jones & Jepson Canowindra Ooh La La Another lovely girl with a sweet head shape and expression, correct low set of leathers, Good length of neck into good shoulders & return of upper arm, level topline and well made hindquarters. Moved out well, just wanted a little more condition on her.
Open Bitch (4,0abs) 1st Havard’s Dufosee Julianna Avec Annavah BB &BIS My notes say “compact and bijou” and what a gem she is. Beautiful head piece which one would expect from her breeders kennel, slightly domed with the most melting expression and darkest of eyes framed beautifully with her low set leathers. Arched neck into correct shoulders & upper arm, well made throughout her fore with good straight front, well boned, tight feet & elbows. Correct depth of brisket, well ribbed and short coupled. Well made hindquarters which she used to her advantage on the move covering the ground soundly with a stylish reach and drive. She didn’t put a foot wrong!
2nd Hunt’s Bondlea Lucy JW Different style to 1 still a nice size and balance to her, she has a sweet head and expression, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of chest, well ribbed and well angulated hindquarters. Giving her handler a hard time on the stack, but I did catch a glimpse of how she can showcase her lovely shape when not free stacked. She moved out accurately and freely.
Veteran Bitch (4,0abs) 1st Havard’s Ch Annavah Knick Knack BVB & BVIS Beautiful head piece with the darkest of eyes giving you that melting expression, with correct low fine leathers framing the picture nicely. Lovely length of neck into well laid shoulder & return of upper arm, well made throughout the body with well ribbed back and correct ribs. Hindquarters are well put together with the correct angulation, she moved effortlessly with reach and drive.
2nd Richmond’s Canowindra Fair Eva Well put together and balanced 7 yr old TW girl with the sweetest head and expression, dark pigment and low set leathers, she has a clean neck into well laid shoulders, good forequarters, body and nicely angulated hindquarters, she moved soundly and in profile when she wasn’t trying to pull away from her handler.

Special Beginners Bitch (1,0abs) 1st Langman’s Madika High Flyer at Bonwillan BSB Tricolour bitch of a lighter and compact mould, good length of neck, neat front and level topline. Handled well to get the best from her, happy mover putting on a good performance, just had the edge over the Spec.beg dog for profile movement. Well done!
